Flying Saucer Pubs to add Tap Boards chalkboard tap handles to their wall of beer tap handles
Austin, TX. - December 15, 2009 — The Flying Saucer’s 14 draught beer house locations will soon be adding Tap Boards, chalkboard tap handles, to their wall of beer tap handles.

Known for offering a large variety of quality imported and domestic hand-crafted beers, the multi-tap pubs feature up to 200 beers that rotate frequently. The chalkboard beer tap handles (Tap Boards) will provide an interchangeable solution for the bar’s rotating and seasonal beers that often do not come with complementing tap markers.
The Tap Board is manufactured with a chalkboard erasable surface that allows a bartender to write in whatever he’s got on tap. Here’s how it is used:
1) Choose a beer to serve.
2) Write the name on the tap board with chalk.
3) Drink. Erase. Repeat.
“These tap handles allow us versatility when we get a new product in that either does not have a tap handle for us to use yet, or if some silly manager can’t find a tap handle for the more than 80 beers we have on tap!” says Shannon Wynne, owner of Flying Saucer.
“Brewers and breweries are producing more extravagant beer tap handles to fight for a patron’s attention, but it often results in something closer to confusion than good marketing,” says Christian Lavender, founder of Kegerators.com, HomeBrewing.com and Tap Boards, Inc. The chalkboard tap handle sits atop the beer faucet and allows the beer patron to easily read the beer’s name or type, resulting in a clear message. “It seems too simple, but sometimes less is more,” Lavender says.
